EXPLORING ARTISTS | DA VINCI

LEONARDO DA VINCI

Hey parents and kids! Let's explore the fascinating world of one of the most talented artists in history - Leonardo Da Vinci.

Leonardo Da Vinci was a Renaissance polymath who was born on April 15, 1452, in Vinci, Italy. His talent was multifaceted, spanning art, science, engineering, and more, leaving an indelible mark on human history. Leonardo's artistic abilities were limitless. His painting style was distinguished by meticulous attention to detail, subtle shading, and a sense of realism that brought his subjects to life.

The Mona Lisa, The Last Supper, and the Vitruvian Man, a study of human proportions that has become a symbol of the era, are among his most famous works.

One of the most famous paintings in the world, the Last Supper was commissioned by Ludovico Sforza, Duke of Milan and Leonardo’s patron during his first stay in that city, for the Dominican monastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie.

But Leonardo's creativity did not end there. His creative mind created designs and ideas that were far ahead of the time. He imagined flying machines, predicting modern helicopters, and even sketched prototypes of armored vehicles and self-propelled carts. To this day, his innovative ideas continue to inspire and captivate inventors and engineers. Some of his most renown inventions are the flying machine, the parachute and the revolving bridge. Leonardo has also been given credit by historians for many more inventions.

The world’s most famous artwork, the Mona Lisa draws thousands of visitors to the Louvre Museum each day, many of whom are compelled by the sitter’s mysterious gaze and enigmatic smile.

The Anemometer: The anemometer is an instrument used to the speed of wind. Leonardo was very passionate about flight and spent years developing his theories on how mankind could take to the skies.
